London 2012 Home Head Journey

Why we're getting behind Andy Tennant and London 2012.

We are delighted to announce that we are now supporting local cyclist, Andy Tennant, as he attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Following the appointment of BMW Group as the Official Automotive Partner of the London 2012 Games, BMW is now actively supporting British athletes, such as Ellie Simmonds and Louis Smith, via the BMW London 2012 Performance Team. Meanwhile, in line with the Performance Team initiative, BMW dealers like us will be working with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

Andy, who grew up in Wolverhampton, is a track and road cyclist who made his mark in 2005 by winning the gold medal in the individual pursuit at the World Junior Championships. Since moving to the senior ranks, he has won gold and silver medals at the European and World Championships, respectively. Andy currently rides on the road professionally with Rapha Condor Sharp.

‘I'd like to say a really big thank you to Benham and BMW,’ said Andy. ‘It's great that they're putting so much faith in me. The training regime for a London 2012 hopeful is relentless, so it really helps to have people behind you. And I've always loved BMW and can't believe I'll be driving one myself from now until the end of the 2012 Games.’

Steve Mills, Dealer Principal at Benham, says: ‘Getting behind our local London 2012 hopeful is a great opportunity for everyone connected with Benham to get involved with London 2012. Everyone in Wolverhampton is very proud of Andy and will be over the moon should he qualify next year. We're hoping to see more of Andy here at the dealership and will be giving customers the chance to meet him later in the year.’
